The Visitors Have Arrived

The premiere of “V” aired on ABC with 13.9 million viewers. In this post-9/11 world where many are fearful of strangers, “V” played on our fears. Within the first few minutes of the show, the Visitors appeared, broadcasting over all major cities of the world. While they carried with them an offer of peace, many questioned their motives. They promised to offer health care and cure many previously uncurable diseases.

The story seems to center around FBI agent Erica Evans, who soon learns that the sleeper cell of terrorists she is investigating is actually Visitors, proving they have been here on Earth for many years. She is shocked to find out that her injured partner, Dale Maddox, is actually a Visitor. She discovers this in a chilling scene in which she bends down and sees the alien skin under his wound and, pulling the human skin back, is shocked when his alien eye opens. Terrified, she plunges a rod into him, apparently killing him.

The Visitors are masters of propaganda, manipulating a news reporter to only ask positive questions during an interview. They have also won over Tyler Evans, Erica's 17 year old son. He decides to work as an ambassador, teaching others the ways of the Visitors.

After such an enthralling first episode, it seems likely their number of viewers will increase!
