Pure Fun from Start to Finish

For every “ER” there is a show like “Scrubs”. For every “CSI” there's a show like “Bones.” For every “Laguna Beach” there's a show like “Beverly Hills: 90210.” Get the pattern? For every show that is a somewhat accurate portrayal into a trade, there is an entertaining show that is loosely based in reality. Here's one more to add to the list; for every “Law and Order” there's a show like “The Mentalist.”
I watched a few episodes of “The Mentalist,” and I will be sure to watch it again. This show is designed as pure entertainment. Now that is not necessarily a bad thing. Shows that are an accurate portrayal into an industry generally aren't very interesting. I mean, how many of you would want to watch a show that covers your job from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM? Instead, I generally find myself more interested in shows that are funny, sexy, and violent; shows with writers who don't care if the show is pure imagination. If you are looking for a show that provides an accurate look into the detective business, this is not a show I'd recommend. But, if you are like me, and just like to sit back and be entertained, “The Mentalist” is a must-watch. It's funny, smart, somewhat romantic, and, like “Law and Order,” it is not afraid to have a dead body in clear view at the beginning. What more could you ask from a show designed to entertain?
