Consistency

All tv shows end up having to introduce new plot twists that may have some slight contradiction with already stated fact, or at a minimum are supposed to have happened but were never mentioned. It's a result of going on for too long. But one mark of a good show vs. a bad show is the ability to weave necessary inconsistencies in with the already-established backstory so that it doesn't look like things are coming out of nowhere. And Heroes has been screwing up pretty majorly in this season especially in that respect. Starting with Nathan's totally inconsistent sudden turning into a bad guy, and even before with that inane "Sylar, we're your parents, oh no we're not" storyline that pretty much had no point. But now, suddenly, Angela Petrelli has this sister who has never existed before, which would be a pretty common device except that the show already did the whole founding-heroes thing last season, and this sister wasn't among them (and if she had been, she'd be dead). And there's some crazy desert hideaway that no one has mentioned. And Mohinder's father was, instead of working on what they spent the past three seasons telling us he was working on (and using his work, often), really working on this Coyote Sands thing? It's sloppy, and it's a symptom of what's been wrong with Heroes. It's just not good writing.
