Another Chance

I don't know why I'm still so willing to give Heroes another chance. I was disappointed in the past by the show's sagging storyline and its disappointing season finale. I'm pretty sure that other fans–the few that are left–are feeling the same way. I know I can't speak for the rest of the Heroes fans out there, but as for me, I grew up watching shows like X-Men and The X-Files, so I suppose that I may be a little bit of a sucker for people with powers and the unexplained in general.

I wasn't too surprised that Heroes made its return to television with a two-hour premiere. These premieres are always made into a big deal, and I feel a little sorry for the other viewers who are disappointed because of the big letdown. This time, there seemed to be less advertising. I almost forgot that the show was schedule to premiere this week.

This new season, like many others, tried to impress viewers by adding to its cast. I'm not sure if this is a good idea, but I don't care. I'm always fascinated by the new characters' abilities. At least those are treated well and make for interesting viewing. We seem to only get a glimpse of what the regulars are doing in between the new people.

For me, the point of interest lies most with the regulars–Matt's own internal battle with Sylar, Noah teaming up with Traci, and Nathan Petrelli slowly discovering “his” powers. I'm even intrigued with Claire's new friend, Gretchen, and something tells me that there's a reason that she's so interested with the gorier side of police work.

I can't say if this season will be a return to its original quality or not, but it looks like there is some sincere effort going on. It's definitely an improvement from last season. Maybe I'm being too forgiving; I don't know. Even if this season doesn't amount to much, I'm sure that I'll give the show one more chance.
