The Inauguration From A Conservative Perspective
Striking is the elaborate nature of this inauguration of President-Elect Barack Obama. Four million people are expected to attend the inauguration of Barack Obama. So popular is this event, that musical stars such as Hannah Montana, the Jonas Brothers (all of whom cannot vote), and Bruce Springsteen preformed at a special inauguration concert this past Saturday. When doing a Google search for "Inauguration Concert 2004", Google attempts to correct the user by prompting: "Did you mean Inauguration Concert 2009?". The search yields fruitless. Simply because there was no concert in 2004. Instead, people country-wide were lambasting George W. Bush for spending money on the inauguration while we were fighting an expensive war in Iraq. Meanwhile, Barack Obama is receiving high praise for holding the most expensive ceremony of all time.
Obama is the most inexperienced man ever to hold of the office of the President. He will truly be tested in his time in office, and we as Americans, Republican or Democrat, must make sure that we stand behind the country, not necessarily the man. Dissent is healthy for a nation, as we've seen with George W. Bush. It is simply my hope that Obama can put partisanship aside and work with the will of the people and make this country the better place that he promised.
