The Wait Really IS Over! (but will it be worth it?)

The weird back in time thing that's happening in the trailer for the Star Trek movie is unexpected...it launches the series back to its origins again. Movie producers have been lazy lately about taking chances on really new and different movies, so we seem to be getting a lot more movies based off things that are already bestselling books or hit series. This trailer seems to be the Trekkie equivalent of the new Star Wars fan candy, which made a decent hit at the box office, but really didn't add anything to my overall experience of the series. But will it be actually placed in time before the latest Star Treks ever happened? Or will it follow some crazy time of its own? Will the past and future connect up somehow? That might be asking too much from the movie series, however, the television show always exceeded expectations when it came to complicated plot twists involving the nature of time and the Universe. The trailer sets the stage for major internal tension, however. Plus, we all like to see the kid-becomes-a-man-through-adversity storylines. (The kid playing the young Sylar character is kind of scary for any Heroes fans out there.) One thing is for sure, I didn't expect them to make another one. Then again, I'm not a decked out sort of Trekkie going to conventions for years; if I were in the right circles I might have heard rumors and I still wouldn't have believed them! I will have opening night tickets, though, and I'll have to buy them weeks in advance, because they will be sold out. So the only thing left for me to plan is to wear a costume opening night, or to not wear a costume? And if I do, should I stick to my loyalties and wear some obscure character from the Next Generation series, or go for someone who will actually show up in this movie?
