The External Power Button Makes the Gateway NV5378U Laptop the Perfect Entertainment Computer

For years, I've been using notebook computers as my home media center. They are quiet, small, and fit neatly in to my entertainment center. The only problem is that I have to pull it out, open its clam-shell, and push the power button to turn it on. The power button is always protected by the notebook lid on many notebooks that I've used in the past.

So the Gateway NV5378U Notebook PC rally give me a thrill, because it's power button is external, on the right-side of the laptop, where the LCD hinge is located (see photo below). I don't know if you can turn the notebook on with the lid closed, but it's far easier to open the lid slightly and turn on the notebook, then to pull one out to turn it on.

Other than the external power button, this Gateway laptop has a AMD Athlon II X2 M300 2GHz dual-core processor, 4GB of DDR2 RAM, a 500GB HDD, a DVD-RW drive, 15.6" LED screen, and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit operating system.

It seems great, but it is actually a flawed design. I am currently trying to get my Gateway laptop fixed because of this location of the power button. The wires connecting the power button to the body are within the LCD hinge. Simply from the process of opening and closing the screen for less than a year, these wires are now severed, pinched, or something.... I simply cannot turn on my laptop, even though I've babied it so far. soooo frusterating. :( 3week wait to have it fixed, or a $100+ cost simply because of the design.
